2019 Sophomore Teaching Fellows Conference

As a teacher for the Department of Juvenile Justice, I teach what many consider "Throw Away Kids". A regular teacher's worst nightmare is my prize student! I am surrounded by what South Carolina has deemed the "Worst of the Worst" juvenile offenders. In all reality, my students are just like many of your kids, but mine got CAUGHT. Don't get me wrong, WE NEED a detention facility for violent juvenile offenders, but once they are in my class, they are MY BOYS. They deserve a quality education. I will share personal accounts and strategies that have helped me to help my kids become extremely successful. I will provide a hand-out of many of the most successful strategies.
